Testimonials
As a result of the compassionate care we deliver, we develop lasting relationships with our patients. Many times we hear from our patients about how Dr. Maria Choy and the staff at Central Jersey Neurological Institute have helped them. For those of you we hear from, we thank you for passing along your kind words.
Here are some of our favorites:
There’s a lot of good things to say about Dr. Choy’s approach and effectiveness in treating my horrible acute and pervasive insomnia, Nausea and anxiety. She asked a lot of relevant questions about my history and lifestyle, she cared to know me before doing anything. Then, she confidently applied acupuncture to the areas that needed it for healing. She also applied acupressure to promote carryover at home so I can get relief. We worked on breathing and relaxation exercises. After 1 session of acupressure, my nausea was completely gone. After 2 Sessions of acupuncture, my insomnia, anxiety and anxiety attacks in the middle of the night were completely gone after 9 months of suffering. I haven’t taken ANY sleeping aids since I’ve been to Dr. Choy. None of my conventional doctors knew how to help me except with ineffective pills. Now, my quality of life has tremendously improved and I’m not even on any meds!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr Choy
She’s very caring and very intelligent . I lost the ability to raise my left arm last year. She started acupuncture and within a month my arm started to get some range of motion and I had a lot less pain when I moved it.Now I have complete range of motion back thanks to Dr Choy. I am so thankful for her. I have also recommended her to a friend who has long term covid effects. She has helped him with lasting symptoms of covid. It’s really amazing what acupuncture can do. I recommend Dr Choy 100 percent!

Thank goodness Mom's PT recommended Dr. Choy! Mom and I are so impressed with her vast knowledge, including nutrition advice, holistic approach to health, and explaining things in an understandable way. We especially like that she treats each patient as an individual with compassionate respect. Mom has a renewed spirit and is taking Dr. Choy's advice and actually doing her suggestions. We also appreciate Dr. Choy's dual approach- she really does practice Integrative Health and knows how to walk in both East and Western Medical approaches. If there were more stars, I would post them.

About five years ago, I had a bulging disk at C3, confirmed by MRI. The pain was unbearable, and my left arm was practically paralyzed. My doctor was ready to schedule surgery. My mom suggested that before I go that route, I should try visiting her acupuncturist. I asked her what kind of voodoo she was trying to loop me into, but eventually, I acquiesced and went to visit Maria Choy, MD.
Dr. Choy led me through her office, decorated with all kinds of posters and body maps, all in Chinese, and I'm like, Lord, what the heck am I doing here. But then you look on the wall and you see a huge certificate-Boston University-Department of Neuroscience-Dr. Maria Choy. So I felt a little better. It's silly how things that are familiar can make you feel better- but seeing that there was "conventional" science involved somehow helped.
We talked for a while, and Dr. Choy was unbelievably patient with my neurotic nonsense, answering all of my questions and explaining how we would proceed. Then she put me in a dark room where I laid down, she put on some nice music, and started tapping needles into my skin. You barely feel it. I laid there for about 20 minutes, and she came back to take them out. I went 3 times a week the first month, 2 times a week the second month and once a week the third month (to "charge the batteries" as she put it).
Utterly and completely cured, and no problems since.
All the props in the world to acupuncture and Dr. Choy!

Dr. Choy is the first doctor that truly listens to what is bothering you. I went in with several different problem areas and she is helping to resolve all of them. And not in a rush to get me in and out of her office like others. On time and still makes time to listen to everything I have to say.

As a retired medical administrator in Monmouth County, I recognize a quality doctor. As a patient, I have first hand experience. Dr. Choy is much more than a great doctor, she is a true physician-healer. She has a top education from schools in the USA and has pursued learning and experience to the utmost, even studying acupuncture with the best in China! She asks the right questions and LISTENS. She formulated a personal plan of healing for each patient and regularly follows-up. She is wonderful and amazing!
